Some of our favourite jobs start with a client who already knows exactly what they want. This homeowner had the whole thing worked out: a functional, good-looking back garden with a solid patio, defined paths, natural stonework and real separation between the spaces. Our job was to build it.
We laid a large-format concrete paver patio straight off the back of the house. Tight joints, steel edging on every border to keep the field where it belongs. From there a gravel path runs out through the garden, with natural flagstone pieces stepping out from the patio edge, which bridges the hard and soft parts of the space. The stonework ties the garden together without pulling focus.
Further back we worked with the existing topography: boulder clusters, mature trees, and a sloped section that needed a retaining wall to hold the grade. Fresh compost mulch went through the planting beds to finish them. The steel edging runs consistently across the whole garden, which keeps the beds crisp and the paths contained.
The cedar screen fence was built by hand on site. Two of our crew kneeling on the patio fitting each slat, checking the spacing stays consistent the whole way across. That kind of detail work is what separates a garden that functions from one that actually looks like something. The cedar also picks up the existing fence material, so nothing reads as bolted on.
When somebody brings us a plan, even a rough one, we work to execute it properly. That is the standard on every job here, whatever the size.
