Some yards are not working for the people who live in them. Too much lawn to keep up with, nowhere proper to sit outside, and an awkward route to and from the street. That was the situation here.
Out front we laid a cobblestone paver pad along the street edge. It gave the homeowner a proper surface for access while sitting comfortably alongside the existing planting. No stepping through mulch, no uneven ground. A small addition that makes a difference every single day.
The backyard is where the project got interesting. We built a full patio using large-format flagstone-pattern pavers set in a natural irregular layout. The finished surface holds a full dining set and a grill comfortably, which is exactly what it is doing now. It went from underused lawn to a proper outdoor room: low upkeep, high use.
