Mowing looks like the simplest thing on a property, and it is the task most often done in a way that slowly damages the lawn. Cut too short through August and the roots cook. Cut at one fixed height all year and the turf thins where the light is poor. Leave wet clippings sitting on the surface through a Seattle October and the grass underneath goes.

We mow on a set rhythm, move the cut height with the season, and edge every visit so the boundary between lawn and bed stays legible. That edge does most of the visual work. A lawn cut perfectly with a soft, blurred border still reads as unfinished, and a merely decent cut with a sharp edge reads as maintained.

What each visit covers

  • Mow, with the height set to the season and the current growth rate
  • Edge along beds, walkways, driveways and hard surfaces
  • Trim where a mower cannot reach: fence lines, posts, tree rings, utility boxes
  • Blow off every hard surface so nothing is left on the walkways or the drive
  • Clippings collected or mulch cut, depending on conditions that day

Frequency

Weekly through the growing season keeps a lawn genuinely sharp. Every 2 weeks is what most properties run, and it holds well outside the peak growth of April through June.

Those are the two we sell mowing on. A four-week gap is longer than grass will tolerate here: the cut stops being maintenance and turns into a rescue, the clippings mat, and the lawn thins where it was scalped. So our four-week and quarterly plans are for properties with little or no grass, where the visit goes on beds, pruning and surfaces. If you have a lawn and you want it mown, the honest answer is weekly or every 2 weeks.

Mowing rarely travels alone. It is part of the scope on recurring maintenance, alongside bed work and pruning, because a sharp lawn beside a neglected bed does not read as a maintained property.

Common questions

Can I book mowing on its own?

Yes, though most properties do better on a plan that covers beds as well. Grass kept sharp beside beds full of weeds still reads as untended. Mowing runs on a weekly or every 2 weeks schedule, not on the longer plans.

How short do you cut?

Higher through summer heat so roots stay shaded and the lawn holds moisture, lower in spring and autumn when growth is fast and light is short. A single year-round setting is what thins a Seattle lawn out.

Do you collect the clippings?

Usually yes in wet months, when clippings mat and smother. Through dry stretches we often leave a light mulch cut, which returns nitrogen to the soil.
